Animal Control
Welcome to the City of Chadron Animal Control. Our mission is to provide the highest quality of service, care, and information to protect both the animals and citizens of our community.
We perform many various tasks on a daily basis including: care and shelter for impounded animals, canine adoptions, the capture of stray and running at large animals and livestock, welfare checks and calls for service regarding animals within City limits, as well as assisting and educating members of our community, all to create a stable and safe environment for animals and humans alike.
If you have any questions or concerns, or wish to inquire about our available animals for adoption, or if you require immediate service regarding Animal Control, please contact our Communication Center at (308) 432-0510, and an Animal Control Officer will be dispatched.
There are numerous ways humans can inflict harm upon animals; some instances in which the owner may not be aware. As an animal control agency, we believe in working with animal owners to educate them and ensure the safety and well-being of their animals and the community. Responsible owners must ensure their animals have proper sustenance, access to shelter, and potable water. They are additionally responsible for other care and maintenance such as brushing, nail trimming, and proper restraint or containment of the animal as is appropriate for the species.
We rely upon voices from the community to report instances of abuse and neglect, and conduct welfare checks at residences in question. It is important for citizens to not interfere with this process; do not attempt to confront an individual or venture onto private property for an animal's sake. If you believe an individual is not adequately caring for their animals, call animal control immediately; an officer will make the determination whether further action is needed after contacting the owner and visiting the residence.
